COVID-19 Update

In the wake of Covid-19 difficulties in hosting a live event, we are currently restructuring FHDU 2021 for a virtual event.

Sadly, the ongoing COVID-19 saga has caught up with FHDU 2021. We have reluctantly decided to change our in-person event into a fully virtual online event instead. We were all looking forward to a real, live, in-person event. Unfortunately, that is not to be.

But this gives us the opportunity to significantly re-format FHDU 2021. We are looking at this as a positive opportunity. We can now bring a significantly more valuable event to people around the globe.

Allan Murrin

New South Wales

You cannot recognize Allan without associating him with his wife Joy and their business, Joy Murrin Family History Services. Their virtual presentation at RootsTech 2021 was a new endeavour from in-person presentations. His knowledge has grown with over 40 years’ experience and further studies at the University of Tasmania.

For more than 40 years Allan and Joy have been researching their family history. In 1995 Joy was appointed as an Accredited Transcription Agent by the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. The family business has grown from the NSW Transcription Service to include Registrations and Certificates for England/Wales, Scotland, Victoria and New Zealand.

Since 1989 they have been volunteerconsultants at the Mortdale Family History Centre giving them practical experience in FamilySearch.

Joy and Allan have a further skill in recording Oral Histories.

Their vast involvement equips them to speak on a wide range oftopics.  They have also written a number of books.   Allan recently completed studies which led to his graduation from the University ofTasmania.

Allan & Joy continue to find joy in their own family, and in assistingothers find joy in family history.

More about

Proving more than one source
Allan Murrin

Taking the wrong research path or running into brick walls sometimes results from not using enough evidence or sidestepping research with shortcuts. Allan will demonstrate some pitfalls when only relying on one document. He will illustrate the differences in document details and offer solutions to provide evidence with more than one source.
