COVID-19 Update

In the wake of Covid-19 difficulties in hosting a live event, we are currently restructuring FHDU 2021 for a virtual event.

Sadly, the ongoing COVID-19 saga has caught up with FHDU 2021. We have reluctantly decided to change our in-person event into a fully virtual online event instead. We were all looking forward to a real, live, in-person event. Unfortunately, that is not to be.

But this gives us the opportunity to significantly re-format FHDU 2021. We are looking at this as a positive opportunity. We can now bring a significantly more valuable event to people around the globe.

Melanie Dunstan

Queensland

Mel has been researching her own family tree for over 25 years. She discovered DNA in 2015 and hasn’t looked back. She enjoys helping and teaching others about DNA. She runs The DNA Connection which works to solve family mysteries using DNA Research.

Melanie Dunstan loves DNA and how it can be used to find missing family members, solve brick walls or confirm what we already know. She loves putting order to the chaos of unsolved mysteries or tangled family trees.

She has been researching her own family from an early age and found DNA in 2015. Since this time, she has taught and helped many people to undertake the research themselves or find missing family members for them. She loves the thrill of solving the mystery and making the connections. In her spare time, she can typically be found in a cemetery or working on DNA Cases.

By day she works as a Nurse Practitioner and draws on skills learned from her five health related university degrees.  She has found many of the skills cross into her business The DNAConnection.

She lives in Cairns, Queensland and teaches DNA at her localFamily History group, as well as assisting as an Admin on popular Facebookgroups; Using DNA for Genealogy – Australia and New Zealand, Find MY family Australia and DNA Detectives Down Under. She is working towards obtaining the Certificate of Genealogical Research from the Society of Australian Genealogists and is becoming a Private Investigator.
